We are very proud to share that Kelly Arends from Edgemead (Cape Town) and Mikaeel Woodman from Mitchells Plain (Cape Town) have been awarded scholarships to Tyler Junior College in Texas which has won the national cup for two seasons running. Their selection is based largely on the significant achievements they’ve made in tennis since the start of their association with Anthony Harris Tennis Academy and the MATCH Foundation in 2016.

Kelly’s junior tennis career culminated with her selection for the South Africa ladies National team at the Billy Jean King Cup (previously FED cup) held in Lithuania this year. Kelly was number 1 in South Africa U14, U16, and U18 and has represented South Africa on many occasions.

Mikaeel, who reached a career-high International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior ranking of 168 this year, has shown outstanding growth since joining the MATCH/AHTA family. He is a perfect candidate for a tennis scholarship and we are so excited to watch him reach for his dreams.

Kelly and Mikaeel’s performance at Tyler College over the next two years will present them with a life-changing opportunity to gain entry into a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) college that provides the ultimate level of competitive college tennis and academics. It will also give them the time and opportunity to consider the Pro Tour while being in the best environment possible.
